Beaujolais Nouveau 2011 Heavier?

No body is serious about Beaujolais Nouveau.  It is supposed to be just a party drink, like a punch that you enjoy but never remember what it is.  That was the thought that came into my mind as I finished my last sip of the 2011 Albert Bichot Beaujolais Nouveau.  However, searching the memory of last year Nouveau, also by the same producer, it seems that there is more to this year’s Nouveau. Did some googling about Beaujolais Nouveau related topic in Hong Kong, yet found very little information.  A dinner activity was organized in LKF in 2007 on the Nouveau arrival day (15-Nov), but nothing was planned before and after. Chivite – Great Pleasure to Drink!

Finally tried it!  Chivite is quite a powerful wine, with medium to full body.  It’s kind of like a marriage between Spain and France.  Although a Tempranillo based (65%), the 30% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon do add to the Bordeaux taste.  The first noticable nose is minerals, and followed by leather.  The taste is a mixture of black fruits and tobacco.  Tannin is noticeable but well structured that suggests potential for cellaring.  The finish is long and complex, a great joy to have. If you ever go to Singapore, this is what you must have. Black Pepper Crab at Eng Seng, Joo Chiat Place Although the picture looks quite beastly, the taste is unforgettable. Eng Seng Restaurant is THE place to go for when it comes to Singapore famous black pepper crab.   The address is 247 Joo Chiat Place (Joo Chiat Place and Still Rd junction). However, it’s location is off MRT route. The nearest station is probably Eunos (EW7).  A search in google map shows 1.4km/18min of walking distance.
